Description
Capture the rare and iconic sound of the legendary MK 1.5 from the '60s with the VOX VFZ-1, a vintage-style two-transistor fuzz pedal featuring silicon transistors voiced to deliver germanium tone without the instability. With precisely targeted biasing, the VFZ-1 delivers an expanded sweet spot with natural cleanup, enabling the expressive breakup that has inspired generations of players.
Two premium silicon transistors are used in the VFZ-1 fuzz circuit—one for the high-impedance input that is designed to play well with complex modern pedalboards and preserve your tone, and a second transistor for shaping the fuzz breakup. Controls include Volume, Fuzz, and two switches: a Tone Cut switch for rolling off high frequencies at the output, and a Bass Cut switch for defining how much low-end tone enters the gain stages. Despite all the vintage warmth and tone, the VFZ-1 is designed to improve on its inspiration with low-noise operation. The VFZ-1 has been engineered for modern guitarists, supporting the typical 9V power supplies found on modern boards (power supply sold separately).
The Sound of Classic Fuzz aend Mor
The second transistor shapes the fuzz’s breakup character, recreating the smooth compression and rich overtone saturation reminiscent of an overdriven vintage valve amp. Together, the two stages deliver an expressive, musical fuzz with excellent cleanup and touch sensitivity.
Shape Your Fuzz and Your Voice
- Bass Cut: adjusts how much low end enters the gain stages. Perfect for humbuckers, neck pickups, or tightening up the fuzz for rhythm work.
- Tone Cut: rolls off high frequencies at the output, great for smoothing harshness or dialing in the iconic violin tone.
- Crunch switch: Instantly produces the classic low-gain overdrive tones that vintage fuzzes create when the guitar’s volume is rolled back, without touching your guitar’s controls.
