Description

Designed to enable confident mixing with Neumann headphones in a variety of audio formats, RIME is a virtual monitoring plug-in for DAWs that outputs a 3D binaural signal from any input signal. Supporting stereo, immersive, and surround formats up to 7.1.4, RIME provides a precisely tuned reference space for reliable mixing that translates perfectly to other playback systems.

Unlike other immersive virtual monitoring systems, RIME is not a mere simulation, but a product of meticulous capture by Neumann engineers, and specifically designed for Neumann headphones. By providing a single reference space, you get more consistent results than solutions with numerous alternate monitoring spaces. All signals are converted to a binaural output, including stereo. Surround and immersive formats provide rear and height channel information. You can adjust speaker position, 2-band shelving EQ, interaural time delay, room ambience, gain, and more with the easy-to-use GUI. This plug-in also provides OSC support for compatible head-tracking devices. RIME is available in VST3, AU, and AAX plug-in formats and supports Mac and Windows computers.

Note: this plug-in is intended for use with Neumann headphones only and is not designed for use with 3rd-party headphone brands.

RIME uses groundbreaking AMBEO algorithms and was created using Neumann technology throughout: KH line monitors and subwoofers were installed in a purpose-built reference room and fine tuned by Neumann acoustics experts using the MA 1 with Multichannel Extension. This state-of-the-art setup was captured using Neumann’s legendary KU 100 binaural head, connected to the MT 48 audio interface with superior preamps and converters.

So, while other solutions confound the user with a slew of virtual spaces, each giving a different impression, RIME presents one reference room in ultimate quality as a single source of truth. RIME thus offers reliable monitoring that translates perfectly to all playback systems.

Stereo, Surround, or Immersive Workflows

RIME is designed to support a variety of workflows and headphone monitoring scenarios with full support for stereo, immersive, and surround audio formats up to 7.1.4. Even if you're working purely in stereo, RIME's precisely tuned virtual space makes monitoring more accurate and realistic.

Stereo signals can be monitored with a loudspeaker-like listening experience without the in-head localization typically associated with headphones. This enables users to check their mixes for loudspeaker compatibility.
