Description

Part of JBL's flagship Control 400 series, the Control 447LP is a slim ceiling loudspeaker ideal for areas with restricted mounting depths. Featuring a 6.5" woofer, a coaxially mounted 1" cloth soft-dome tweeter, and JBL's innovative Radiation Boundary Integrator waveguide technology, this loudspeaker offers extremely consistent coverage and directivity over a wide area.

The Control 447LP sports up to 300W peak power handling. The 60W 70/100V multitap transformer delivers low saturation at high drive levels, ensuring high-quality sound in distributed audio systems. For low-impedance, direct-drive configurations, this loudspeaker features an 8-ohm impedance for paralleling up to two speakers from a 4-ohm amplifier. The crystal-clear copper-clad aluminum voice coil ensures a wide 65 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range for balanced and high-fidelity sound. The stylish bezel-less grille cleanly fits into the aesthetics of nearly any space. The Control 447LP includes all necessary mounting hardware, including a cable strain relief, cutout template, tile rails, screws, and C-ring.

Low-Profile Design for Shallow Plenum Spaces

The Control 447LP features a slim 5.6"-deep design ideal for mounting areas with restricted depth, such as shallow plenum spaces. The shallower depth of the loudspeaker reduces it's bass response slightly. For this reason, it is often recommended to pair the Control 447LP with a dedicated satellite subwoofer, such as the Control 440CS/T.

Radiation Boundary Integrator

The Control 447LP features JBL’s exclusive conical Radiation Boundary Integrator (RBI). The RBI provides a large waveguide for the tweeter while low-frequency sound projects through specially designed apertures in the RBI, allowing for a seamless integration of coverage between the two coaxially mounted drivers.

The result is extremely consistent sound character with very little variation throughout the listening space. The wide coverage allows for the use of fewer loudspeakers compared to speakers with less consistent coverage control, while at the same time providing better coverage of the area.

Coaxial Loudspeaker Design

The system’s 6.5" woofer features a treated paper cone and high-performance magnet offering extended bass response for a warm full-bodied tone. The copper-clad aluminum voice coil wound on an aluminum former offers low distortion and high sensitivity. A coaxially mounted 1" cloth soft-dome tweeter with neodymium magnet assembly and aluminum voice coil former provides crisp and clear highs with enhanced power handling.

Direct Drive or Distributed Configurations

The 8-ohm impedance allows paralleling up to 2 speakers on a 4-ohm capable amplifier. For distributed systems, the UL-registered transformer is designed for exceptionally low saturation, even at high drive levels, providing a top-quality, low-distortion distributed sound character.

Easy and Reliable Installation

The stylish bezel-less grille fits seamlessly into a variety of architectural aesthetics. The integrated backcan on the Control 447LP combined with the C-ring support backing plate allows for quick and easy installation of the unit.

The included white grille is paintable (grille backing is removable and re-applicable for painting), and optional accessory grilles are available in black and in square shape. The Control 447LP is UL 1480A and UL 2043 listed.
