Description

Simple and elegant, the cream Debut 100R from Blackstar is a versatile, no-frills, 1x12", 2-channel combo amp that delivers killer tones and intuitive usability, thanks in part to its lightweight tubelike MOSFET preamp that saturates just like a real tube. Ideal for studio, stage, and home practice, the 100R sports 100W of power that be reduced to 5W for smaller spaces.

Blackstar has done away with unnecessary bells and whistles in favor of an amp that provides excellent tone and the most important features for a modern guitarist, including a series FX loop and headphone/line output with speaker emulation. You get a bright switch on the clean channel and patented ISF tone control for shifting through decades of amp voicings. In terms of actual speakers, the 100R sports one 12" custom-designed Blackstar Anthem 100 speaker. Plate and hall-style reverbs are also on tap for sweetening your tone.

MOSFET for Tubelike Tones

Blackstar chose a MOSFET solid-state preamp for its unique overdrive characteristics, which produce nonlinear harmonics in a very similar manner as traditional tubes. Significant effort was spent to refine the MOSFET tone to be nearly indistinguishable from a real tube preamp.

The overdrive channel is based on Blackstar's award-winning St. James 6L6 overdrive, a modern British tube overdrive. The clean channel is based on the revered HT-20R Mk III's clean tone, with lots of headroom that breaks up naturally when pushed hard, making it ideal as a pedal platform.

A Versatile Toolbox for Modern Guitarists

The Debut 100R’s features have been carefully designed to cover all the necessary tools needed for aspiring guitarists to practice and perform live: two footswitchable channels, Clean and Overdrive, Blackstar's patented ISF (Infinite Shape Feature) tone control, power reduction down to 5W, series effects loop, and custom-voiced digital reverb with hall and plate options.
