Serato DJ 1.7.2 Released

Serato DJ has been in development since the announcement of the Serato DJ 1.7.2 public beta. The popular DVS software has shown some muscle with added features in recent updates and today Serato announced the full, stable release of their software, Serato DJ 1.7.2. Within this update, users will find Yosemite support, extended MIDI capabilities, sticker lock, and more that give Serato DJ new bragging rights. Serato Updates and Fixes with 1.7.2

Serato has shown the past year that they are serious about listening to their users and reprogramming the software to be more comprehensive for the DJ. Probably one of the most prominent features of Serato DJ 1.7.2 is the support for OS X 10.10 Yosemite which means users need not to worry about updating their OS to continue using their software. Also, within the topic of software changes, Rane drivers were updated for Mac in this update and the audio dropout light threshold was increased.

As far as features of Serato DJ 1.7.2 go, there has been several. First of all, MIDI capabilities were extended with 1.7.2 giving users the access to MIDI map individual loop sizes and output lighting. Thus, giving Serato users even more control of their controllers. Secondly, the sticker lock feature is fully available within the update. Along with sticker lock, users will be happy to find features such as continuous library scrolling, saved loop modes, and instant start for motorised platters when start time set to zero. An Echo Out effect was also added to Wolf Pack. Below we included a curated list of some important bug fixes to the software.

• Large Latency introduced after audible dropout on Mac with DVS devices.
• Short audible dropouts on Mac not resolved by USB buffer.
• No longer crashes with firewire soundcards.
• iTunes library now available in Windows 7.
• Video files load faster within Mac OS X 10.9 and above.
• Searching the library no longer causes waveforms/virtual decks to freeze.
• iTunes playlist folders open condensed in Serato DJ.
• Sort and jump to BPM is correct now.
• Repeat Track works when Serato DJ is in Offline mode.
• Saved loop/manual loop state is now copied when instant doubling.
• Noise Threshold preference is copied across from Scratch Live if available.
• Tracks no longer skip/jumps when scratching with 45RPM.
• 2′s Compliment data type work correctly for MIDI mapping.
• Loop Flip slot defaults to Loop OFF when saved and ON/LOOP are both off.
• Instant doubling turns an active Flip off if it’s on, on the target deck.
• Stop time respected after Loop Rolling.
• CDJs are displaying the correct remaining time while in HID mode.
• Offline Player limiting correctly on Windows.
• Decks keep playing during autoplay when same track loaded to different decks.
• When not using CDJ HID mode (but connected) the library knob controls Serato DJ.

I really enjoy seeing how Serato puts a lot of effort into updates by opening public betas and then, using DJs usage data, creates an even better version of the software that is stable while addressing the community’s concerns. The Serato DJ 1.7.2 gives a lot more than previous versions and is another instance of Serato moving up on the DJ software ladder.
